French President Emmanuel Macron First International Leader To Visit Lebanon
During his visit, Macron will meet Lebanese President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Hassan Diab to discuss necessary assistance for Lebanon.
French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Lebanon to check up on the situation after the cataclysmic explosion. He is the first international leader to visit Beirut in the aftermath of the disastrous incident. President Macron’s agenda for this meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Hassan Diab is to discuss necessary assistance for the country. Sources state that there are two objectives to Macron’s visit. First, to urge global communities to contribute towards reconstruction and second, to press for urgent reforms in the country. France has also dispatched rescue teams and 6 tonnes of health equipment to Beirut.
The explosion was disastrous and sowed devastation across neighbourhoods, killing more than 100 people and severely injuring thousands. People across the globe prayed for the speedy recovery of those who were affected in this tragic incident. As a symbolic gesture, the iconic Eiffel tower went dark to mourn the victims of the blast.
