The sudden demise of veteran actor Rajiv Kapoor has surely left the entire nation in grief. The ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ actor was supposed to make his Bollywood comeback later this year but passed away even before the promotions for the film began. Similarly, the film industry has lost many beloved celebrities just before the release of their last film. Here’s a list of such celebs:

Rajiv Kapoor, who was Randhir and Rishi Kapoor’s youngest brother, passed away at the age of 58 due to a cardiac arrest on 9th February 2021. The actor who planned to make his comeback on the silver screen after a break of more than 3 decades, was supposed to be seen in ‘Toolsidas’ alongside Sanjay Dutt. The film which got delayed because of the ongoing pandemic was scheduled to release in December 2020.

Sushant Singh Rajput

The whole nation went into a state of shock when they heard the shocking news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic demise. The actor passed away on 14th June 2020, hardly a month before the digital release of his last film, Dil Bechara.

Another superstar with their name linked to a posthumous release is Rishi Kapoor. The late actor passed away after a two-year battle with leukaemia on 30th April 2020. His upcoming film Sharmaji Namkeen alongside Juhi Chawla and Paresh Rawal is scheduled to release on 4th September 2021.

Irrfan Khan, an international icon who not just impressed the domestic audience with his skills but also dazzled the international audience with his exceptional acting passed away on 29th April 2020 due to a colon infection after battling a tumour for several months. His last film Angrezi medium released on 12th March 2020, however the same got a digital release after is death. Irrfan’s Doob, a Bangladeshi film released in 2017 is also releasing for the Indian audience in 2021 along with The Song of Scorpions.

Not just the industry but the whole nation mourned when the Hawa Hawaai girl, Sridevi, passed away in a tragic incident on 24th February 2018. Her last appearance on the silver screen was as a cameo in the Shahrukh Khan starter Zero that released on 21st December 2018.

Veteran Bollywood actor Om Puri passed away on 6th January 2017, after suffering a massive heart attack. The last film he shot for was the Salman Khan starter Tubelight, which release just a few months after his demise.

The director with the Midas touch, Yash Chopra had announced his retirement after the release of his last film, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. Unfortunately, he passed away on 21st October 2012, just a few weeks before the film hit theatres.

Rajesh Khanna who was regarded as the ‘First Superstar’ by his fans and ruled over the film industry for over three decades. He was later diagnosed with cancer and passed away on 18th July 2012 after succumbing to the disease. His last film Riyasat released on 18th July 2014, exactly 2 years after him passing away.

The Bollywood’s very own ‘Mogambo’, Amrish Puri, passed away on 12th January 2005 after slipping into a coma as a result of a brain surgery he had undergone to remove a clot. His last film Kisna, starring Vivek Oberoi was released a few days after his sad demise on 21 January 2005.

The exquisite Madhubala who charmed the audience of Indian Cinema with her beauty and talent passed away on 23rd February 1969 owing to a heart condition that she had been battling for a few years. Her last film, Jwala, co-starring Sunil Dutt released 2 years after her heartbreaking demise.
