Sooryavanshi directed by Rohit Shetty got a theatrical release on November 5. The director has opened up on the narrative of bad Muslim and good Muslim in Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer film

Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif released in theatres on November 5. The film directed by Rohit Shetty is making a buzz at the box office since it was released. The film also had Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in cameo appearances, reprising their cop roles from their respective films. Now, days after the release of the film director Rohit Shetty has opened up and replied to the query about the good Muslim bad Muslim narrative in the film. He said that when he made negative Hindu characters no one questioned him.

In a recent interview, Rohit Shetty was asked about the negative portrayal of Muslims in the film. He said that Jaykant Shikare was Hindu a Marathi, in this universe second caHindusHindu Godman was there, then in Simmba a Maharashtrian again. These three negative forces were Hindu. Why isn’t that a problem? asked the director.

Further, when the question was repeated that it’s the portrayal that’s problematic, Rohit Shetty said that he doesn’t think so. If there is a terrorist who is from Pakistan, what caste will he be? asked the director. He further added that they are not talking about the caste. And, it changed his point of view of a few journalists whom he used to like. That oh, they are portraying it like he has seen in brackets somebody writing bad Muslims being preached by upper-caste Hindus, which is very wrong. They never thought that way, concluded Rohit Shetty.

Moving further, he was asked about pushing Sooryavanshi for a theatrical release and not following on the digital release route. Rohit Shetty admitted that it was a long battle and wasn’t easy to hold back, especially when one gets good offers from digital platforms. He believes that Sooryavanshi is one such film that definitely needed a theatrical release. The film is receiving a great response from the audience as well as from the film critics.
