After opening to a thunderous response from the audience, the business of the film Sooryavanshi saw good growth as the days progressed. The great response has resulted in the film being Akshay Kumar’s third all time second weekend grosser

Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif was the first film to release on the big screen after the opening of theatres. While the load on Akshay was very high for ensuring a good hit, the audience didn’t let him down and gave a thunderous response to the film which was exactly what everyone was aiming for.

The audience has given a beyond expected response as the scare of Covid-19 still prevails, there was a major doubt if the netizens would support coming back to the cinemas or not.

In this box office report, we take a look at the second-weekend collections of Sooryavanshi while comparing the same to Akshay Kumar’s previous releases that have made it to their second weekend in theatres. Collecting Rs. 30.57 cr, Sooryavanshi has become Akshay’s third-highest second weekend grosser. Though the business of the film does not surpass the collections of Akshay’s previous releases like Mission Mangal that collected Rs. 36.45 cr, and Good Newwz that collected Rs. 34.20 cr. However, the business of the film surpassed the actor’s other releases like Housefull 4 that collected Rs. 29.98 cr, 2.0 that collected Rs. 27 cr, Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty that collected Rs. 19.52 cr, Airlift that collected Rs. 19.26 cr, Kesari that collected Rs. 19.15 cr, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha that collected Rs. 19 cr, and Jolly LLB 2 that had collected Rs. 17.73 cr.

Currently still running to packed houses, the business of Sooryavanshi is expected to more or less continue to remain stable in its second week.

Akshay is seen as Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, who joins forces with Ranveer Singh’s Simmba character Inspector Sangram Bhalerao and Ajay Devgn’s Singham character Inspector Bajirao Singham to foil a terror plot in Mumbai. Katrina plays a doctor in the film.

Another interesting piece of news is that the director Rohit Shetty isn’t in any mood to give his cop drama universe an end. The end of Sooryavanshi has given life to Singham 3 which will be based in Pakistan. The first was in Mumbai, the second was in Goa. Just when this news was sinking in, the release date was also revealed. Official announcements are awaited eagerly however from the director or actor Ajay Devgn.
