Shocking! Alec Baldwin involved in a grave mishap on the sets of Rust

According to recent reports, Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin accidentally fired shots when he was practicing on a prop gun on the set of low budget production movie, ‘Rust’, which ended up killing the cinematographer of the movie on the spot and injuring the director of the movie. According to the director who was injured in the incident, the shot that killed the cinematographer on a New Mexico film set last week was fired by actor Alec Baldwin who was practicing drawing his gun.

 When the prop gun went off during a rehearsal at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe on Thursday, Joel Souza, director of the film “Rust,” was shot in the shoulder and cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, was killed. According to an affidavit released by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, Souza spoke with detectives on Friday.

 In the affidavit, Souza told them that Baldwin was “seated in a pew in a church building setting, and he was practicing a cross draw.” It was further stated in the affidavit that Souza was gazing over Hutchins’ shoulder “when he heard what sounded like a whip and then a loud pop.”

 According to the statement, Souza remembered Hutchins “complaining about her stomach and holding her midsection” after the shot was discharged. The investigators also spoke with crew member who operates the camera, Reid Russell, who was standing close to Souza and Hutchins at the time of the incident. Investigators said Russell remembered Hutchins “claiming she couldn’t feel her legs” and medics treating her while she was bleeding on the floor.

Souza and Russell both confirmed that there were issues on set that day due to a camera crew walkout over payment and housing. Souza stated they only had one camera available that day due to labour issues, and it wasn’t filming at the time of the incident. Souza allegedly told an investigator that he overheard the expression “cold gun” on stage, implying that the gun was supposed to be empty.

As per the warrant, three people handled the guns or firearms for the scenes, the armourer and the first assistant director verified them before handing them over to the actor who would be using them.

 The investigator stated that Souza was unaware that anyone on set had checked before or after the scenes were shot to see if the gun had live ammunition on them. The search warrant was issued in order to recover any footage, video cameras, computer equipment, and memory cards utilized by the set’s cameras.

The event has not resulted in any charges being filed. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office states that it will hold a press conference on Wednesday to discuss the matter further.
