The various rumours and speculations surrounding director SS Rajamouli’s much-awaited multi-starrer RRR release on OTT has been doing rounds. Finally, putting the rumours to rest the production house of the film PEN Studios finally took to social media and laid rest to all speculations. As per the official statement released by the production house, the film will release in the theaters.

As per the founder of Pen Studio MD JayantilalGadha, Pen Studios will release the much-hyped movie in cinemas, and not OTT platforms. The studio issued the verification after hearsay reports began to circulate that the film will have a digital release.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh shared PEN Studio’s official statement on Twitter thus proving that the rumours were untrue regarding the movie release on the OTT platforms. RRR is based on the true story of Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, two tribal chiefs. Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Alison Doody, Olivia Morris, and Ray Stevenson star in the film directed by SS Rajamouli, who also directed Baahubali.

Rajamouli wrote the screenplay based on a story by K. V. Vijayendra Prasad. Rajamouli came across accounts of situations that occurred in the lives of Rama Raju and Bheem and noticed a connection between them. Rajamouli was inspired to make the film by the idea that they may have been pals during their formative years.

RRR, which is made on a budget of 400 crore (US$56 million), was set to hit theatres on July 30, 2020, but was postponed due to production problems, and was then followed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The film is now scheduled to release on 13 October 2021 in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, and also in international languages.

Pandemic gave us a new source of entertainment in terms of OTT platforms. During post-pandemic almost every prime film was released on several OTT platforms and some even performed remarkably. Recently there was also hearsay that Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, RRR and John Abraham’s action flick attack will be released on the OTT platform; However, Pen Studios paused such hearsay and clarified as per the statement of MD JayantitalGada that the films have a theatrical release.
