Award-Winning Japanese Actress Yuko Takeuchi Commits Suicide
The Japanese government has urged people to seek help if they are struggling with mental stress or depression.
On Sunday, September 27, award-winning Japanese actress Yuko Takeuchi committed suicide at her home in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward. Sources state that Takeuchi was sent to a hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the case and officials suspect that Takeuchi committed suicide. According to the news reports, Takeuchi’s husband, actor Taiki Nakabayashi, found her body in the bedroom at around 2 a.m. The reason for her suicide is still unknown as no suicide note has been found.
Takeuchi appeared in a variety of TV dramas and films and had also won a number of film awards including the Japanese Academy Film Prize for outstanding performance by an actress in a leading role. After the actress’s suicide, Japan’s government has urged people to seek help if they are struggling with mental stress or depression.
