Part Two Of The Budget Session of Parliament Starts Today Onwards
According to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the Rajya Sabha sessions will be conducted between 9 am to 2 pm, while the Lok Sabha debates will happen in the evening from 4 pm to 10 pm
The second phase of the Budget Session of the Parliament will start from today (8 March) in Delhi. All COVID precautions have been taken to ensure complete safety till 8 April, when the debates will conclude. According to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the Rajya Sabha will function from 9 am to 2 pm, while the lower house will start in the evening at 4 pm and close at 10 pm. Amidst India’s ongoing vaccination drive against Coronavirus, a kiosk has been set up in the senate complex itself where MPs above 60 years and those with comorbidities in the age group of 45-59 years can receive the immunisation.
During this leg, discussions about tackling the health crisis along with the opposition targeting the Modi government on the constantly rising petrol and diesel prices, the LAC issue and the longstanding and unresolved farmers’ agitation are expected. Ahead of the month-long exercise, Congress President Sonia Gandhi held a meeting yesterday with her party’s strategy group and senior members.
The first part of the session was flagged off with an address by President Ram Nath Kovind on 29 January.
