Padmini Kolhapure, who has reprised her legendary song ‘Yeh Galiyan Yeh Chaubara’ from Raj Kapoor’s classic film ‘Prem Rog,’ discussed how sentimental she became while filming the song.
Lata Mangeshkar performed the song for the first time in 1982. Padmini claimed that when filming the song almost 39 years later, she was overwhelmed with emotion as she remembered her late co-star, actor Rishi Kapoor.

“Somewhere between runs of filming for the song, the tune was constantly playing in the background,” the actor said, recalling her cherished recollections of working with the late actor on the song scene. She said that something inside her suddenly snapped, and she was transported back to the period when she shot the classic song with Rishi Ji. With his humour and humility, he always kept everyone on set alive and fresh.” she added.

Despite the fact that it was an intense song in which they had to fully immerse themselves in the character, he was always the one to make everyone laugh and crack jokes. She wrote, “Remembering all of this and more made her melancholy and teary-eyed.” ‘Yeh Galiyan Yeh Chaubara’ is considered a classic Bollywood song that can transport you back in time even now.

Padmini Kolhapure’s new version of the song also features Aimee Misobbah and Amaira Bhatia. It’s produced by Priyaank Sharma and Paras Mehta and will be released on December 6th by Saregama and Dhamaka Records.

Padmini Kolhapure (born November 1, 1965) is an Indian actress and singer who is most known for her performances in Hindi movies. She began acting at the age of seven in 1972, and her early credits include Zindagi (1976) and Dream Girl (1977). The film Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978), in which she played Young Roopa, was her debut.

Kolhapure earned the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of fifteen for her role in the vengeance drama Insaf Ka Tarazu (1980), and the Filmfare Award for Best Actress at the age of seventeen for her role in the tragic love story Prem Rog.
