Shahid Kapoor is back to rule the silver screen and your hearts with his performance in his upcoming film Jersey. The film that also stars Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles will see SK’s real-life father Pankaj Kapur playing a pivotal character. Ever since the trailer has dropped online, it’s been garnering rave reviews from the audience. For the uninitiated, Jersey is the official Hindi remake of a Telugu film with the same name. The filming of Jersey was going on for almost 2 years in cities like Uttrakhand and others. However now, the makers of Jersey have released the first rushes of the film and we are in awe.
But do you know, Shahid Kapoor watched the film just two weeks before Kabir Singh? Well, we are not saying this, Shahid has himself spilled the beans. During the trailer launch of the film Jersey, the Jab We Met actor revealed that he had cried buckets after watching the original film. He revealed that two weeks before the release of Kabir Singh, he watched the film twice and he cried his heart out not once during both times. He went on to reveal he watched the film with his wife Mira Rajput Kapoor and managers who asked him about his emotions after seeing him crying.

Not only that Shahid Kapoor also opened up about working opposite his father Pankaj Kapur and doing back-to-back remakes. For the trailer launch, Shahid Kapoor looked dashing wearing a beige jacket paired with black denim. He rounded off his look with black sunglasses.
Speaking about the trailer Jersey is all about 2nd chance in life. The first rushes see Shahid Kapoor looking for a job to buy a present for his son. This is when he meets his real-life father Pankaj Kapur who asks him to get back into the cricket business as that’s his happy place. Soon after Shahid decides to get back to cricket, his onscreen wife Mrunal Thakur asks him to make a choice between cricket and family. Helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, Jersey will hit the screens on December 31, 2021, marking a clash with Ranveer Singh’s directorial Cirkus.
