A Star Since Childhood

Growing up watching her parents working in the films, Keerthy always knew she belonged in the movies. She used to live in Chennai as a child and visited Kerala during vacations. If her breaks there used to overlap with her parents shooting a film, she happened to appear in a few shots as well.

Later, she did work as a child artist, such as in Pilots and Kuberan, where she worked with total dedication. She would start her day by getting up early in the morning, doing her puja, and then reaching the sets on time. She and everyone else around her knew she was taking things seriously & wasn’t just passing her time there. She looked up to her mother and wanted to be like her - a successful actress.

Deliberately Failed Tests To Act

Keerthy Suresh has been getting offers to work in films since she was in the ninth standard. But her parents at the time believed she was too young and needed to finish her education first. They had put the condition of at least getting an undergraduate degree before working full time in movies. They even wanted her to move to the US like her sister to study without much distraction. But Keerthy has been so passionate about working in film that she deliberately failed the tests. She wanted to stay in India for studies so that the industry & people don’t forget about her existence.

The Fashion Designer

Keerthy Suresh was mindful when she chose her undergraduate major. She and her sister had decided not to conform to the general educational pressure prevalent in Kerala, where everyone is doing MBBS or BTech. They both got their degrees in the respective creative fields of their interests related to the industry.

She was inclined towards fashion, and so she chose fashion designing.

Her degree helps her in the movies as she had hoped. When it comes to costumes, she knows what is to be conveyed to the people. When the designer is not available on sets, and things need to be communicated to the tailor, she takes charge.

Keerthy Suresh is often seen sporting her designed clothes. She even wishes to seriously pursue her career in designing as well and opening a boutique.

Worked In Two Films During Her Graduation

In her third year of graduation, when she was in London, Priyadarshan called her and asked her to come back, and they would start shooting Geethanjali, in which she played a dual role. She was a bit hesitant as she was supposed to finish her studies first. Her hesitancy was taken as disinterest in acting by Priyan. She felt that if he had so much trust in her, she should honor it, and she shot her film during her semester breaks. The hard-working and multitasker Keerthy managed to do two films during her graduation and scored well too.

Wants To Keep Redefining Herself

Keerthy usually features in commercial movies but makes sure that she has a meaty role in the film. She also discusses her scripts with her parents and looks at all aspects of a film– the story, director, actors, etc. before signing a film. Mahanati was a major turning point in her career. Her reaction when she heard the story was “No.” She doubted herself and thought she wouldn’t be able to do justice to Savitri’s story. Her mother is a huge fan of Savitri; she and Nag convinced her by showing faith in her abilities. And, today, the whole country knows her because of this movie.

Keerthy started getting a lot of women-centric roles after this, including a few Bollywood ones. In an attempt to prevent herself from getting typecast as an actress who plays older women. She wants to keep redefining herself and wants to show herself in all colors to her audience. She waited long to get a good script with a challenging role for her next movie and slayed in it.

Keerthy is an excellent actress, and she has shown that time and again. When she plays a character, she breathes life into it. She lives the character and feels all their emotions as her own. This reflects her passion for her acting career and explains her ever-increasing popularity.
