Shah Rukh Khan’s infamous Wankhede fiasco following KKR’s IPL victory in 2012 gained nationwide attention. Here’s all that transpired.

Shah Rukh Khan has been a part of many controversies over the years. However, his biggest one yet is the Wankhede controversy that transpired a few years back. SRK was banned from entering the cricket stadium after he allegedly assaulted the stadium officials in a ‘drunken state’. Watch the news video below to find out more details about Shah Rukh Khan’s infamous Wankhede fiasco.

Shah Rukh Khan Vs MCA

Shah Rukh Khan’s stand-off with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) became a nationwide subject of discussion following an IPL 2012 match at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. As per the reports, MCA claimed that Khan was drunk and assaulted its officials.

This incident took place after the Kolkata Knight Riders won IPL 2012 against the Chennai Super Kings. Shah Rukh Khan was in a celebratory mood when he reportedly noticed one of the stadium’s officials manhandling his daughter after KKR’s victory.

Reports also suggest that after SRK’s ban, a social activist named Amit Maru demanded that the Mumbai Police lodge an FIR against Khan for ‘violating’ the Juvenile Justice Act. The activist claimed that SRK used expletives in the presence of children thereby violating the Juvenile Justice Act.

There were also a few allegations made against Khan for being drunk but they were all dismissed. After years of probing the matter, the Mumbai police in 2019 concluded that he was not drunk and neither did he use any abusive language in front of minors. It took him almost half a decade to clear his name from this case and now he is no more a part of the Wankhede controversy.
