Stephen Fleming, Coach Of CSK Talks About What Went Wrong For The Team

Chennai Super Kings defeated KXIP with 9 wickets. The coach of the team, Stephen Fleming, spoke about why the team did not play well at the beginning of the season.

In the match that took place on October 1 between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab, Chennai managed to kick Punjab out of the game, crashing all their hopes to play in playoffs. However, Chennai has not been consistent when it comes to winning matches. The coach of the team Stephen Fleming recently spoke about what went wrong that affected the CSK team 2020.

Stephen Fleming talks about the overall performance of Chennai in IPL 2020

Chennai recently won three consecutive matches in IPL 2020 latest games. Their last win was against Kings XI Punjab where they managed to defeat them with 9 wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. While talking about their performance in the season, Stephen Fleming, the coach of CSK mentioned that they played the first match well but had a downfall after that match. He added that the team could have given their best since the beginning but failed to do to so.

Stephen said that they had major setbacks when some players left due to COVID-19. He mentioned that they struggled to find the combinations suiting the conditions. He said that they felt like they had holes in the team and they will definitely look into it to fill those spots. They made many wrong decisions when it came to batting and bowling and said that it was very frustrating for them. He added that they still stuck together which he is really proud of. Their main focus is to keep getting better day by day.

Stephen Fleming added that now that they won three consecutive matches, they could let new players showcase their skills. He added that there was way too much pressure but still managed somehow. He said that he is glad they’re here today but every disappointed with the way the team has performed overall. He added that now that the pressure is much lesser as they won’t be participating in the playoffs, the team is performing under much lesser pressure.

CSK defeats KXIP crushing their hopes

KXIP decided to bat first and could not score enough runs in the CSK vs KXIP 2020 match. CSK managed to notch 6 wickets against them and  Ruturaj Gaikwad held his wicket and scored his third fifty and in the season. Eventually, CSK could bet the team because of Ruturaj and Faf du Plessis’ partnership.
