Meet Nirbhaya Lawyer Who Will Fight For Hathras Victim
After fighting tirelessly for the 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim and her family, Seema Samridhi Kushwaha will fight the Hathras case.
Born on January 10, 1982, in a small village of Ugrapur, Gram Panchayat Bidhipur Block Mahewa Tehsil Chakarnagar in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh, Seema Samridhi Kushwaha is one name to reckon with. After fighting tirelessly for the last seven years on behalf of the 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim Nirbhaya and her family, Seema Kushwaha will fight the case of the Hathras victim. As per reports, the victim’s family has allowed Kushwaha to represent them in the court. When Nirbhaya’s case came into light, she was still a law trainee. At that time, she had participated in various protests demanding justice.
On January 24, 2014, she joined Nirbhaya Jyoti Trust as a legal adviser. Nirbhaya Jyoti Trust is an institution founded by the victim’s parents to assist women who have experienced violence to find shelter and legal assistance. Seema Kushwaha has completed her graduation in LL.B from Kanpur University in 2005. She also received a Bachelor of Journalism degree in 2006 from Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University. Then, she did her M.A. in Political Science and started legal practice at the Supreme Court of India in 2014.
