Mahesh Manjrekar To Direct Film On Vinayak Damodar Savarkar Titled SwatantraVeer Savarkar
On the 138th Birth Anniversary of controversial freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Mahesh Manjrekar announced his directorial venture on him backed by producer Sandeep Singh.
Mahesh Manjrekar was last seen in the ZEE5 Original film, The Power, as Kaalidas Haridas Thakur. The film was also directed by him. He then recently made headlines with his upcoming film starring Salman Khan, titled Antim. Now, according to the latest announcement by the filmmaker, he will be directing a film on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar aka Veer Savarkar’s life titled, ‘SwatantraVeer Savarkar’. This film will be produced by Sandeep Singh who last produced Vivek Oberoi’s biographical drama on the Prime Minister titled, PM Narendra Modi.
Anybody who has studied the history of Maharashtra is very well aware of the name Veer Savarkar. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar as he was named, was born in 1883 in Maharashtra. He has been one of the controversial freedom fighters and politicians who formulated the Hindu nationalist philosophy of Hindutva. On his 138th Birth Anniversary is when Mahesh Manjrekar announced his upcoming directorial titled, ‘SwatantraVeer Savarkar’.
Mahesh Manjrekar shared a poster of the film on his social media handles with a caption that translated to, “The complete story of India’s Independence is yet to be known! Meet #SwatantraVeerSavarkar very soon…”. Check out his post here:

Although the film is yet to cast any actors, Mahesh is pretty excited about this project. In a statement, he had mentioned how he has always wanted to explore the personality and story of Veer Savarkar. The film will be shot in Maharashtra, Andaman, and London, and is set to go on floors soon once the lockdown restrictions are lifted.
