James Corden’s poking fun at the Kpop band BTS not well received by fans, faces backlash

Actor and talk show host James Corden’s recent statements have not gone well with the official BTS fanclub aka ARMY. Recently, BTS was invited at the UN as special envoys for South Korean President Moon Jae-in. They spoke about critical issues such as vaccination and climate change. They also gave a splendid performance of their latest song Permission To Dance YouTube confirmed that six million viewers watched the video in only five hours!

The ARMY is well known for being fiercely protective about the boy band. The K-Pop band BTS had been on James Corden’s The Late Late Show several times too. He is even lovingly called Papa Mochi in one of his videos. But after this comment, the title will most likely be revoked.

Chatty James Corden and BTS

James Corden made a few jokes about BTS’s trip to the UN. Needless to say, the jokes weren’t taken lightly by the ARMY. James Corden said that BTS had one of the largest ARMY in the world. Corden also added that this was a historic moment because everywhere now 15-year-old girls would be wishing that they were Secretary General António Guterres.

Now this comment, although hilarious, enraged the ARMY. Fans felt belittled that the ARMY was reduced to only 15-year-old girls. They expressed their anger over western media for making BTS come off as a boy band that manipulates little girls.

At the UN General Assembly

BTS speech at the UN General Assembly talked widely about Covid-19. They spoke about the struggles and hardships of the Covid generation. Their statement was followed by a pre-recorded performance of their new song, which offers a message of hope for an end to the pandemic. Before starting the performance ,the group said they want to spread their message of welcome with everyone today.

In addition, they emphasised the need to build a sustainable future and beat climate change. BTS member J-Hope brought attention to the importance of worldwide vaccination and told the audience that all seven members were vaccinated against Covid-19.
