Chhichhore Receives National Film Award For Best Hindi Film; Director Dedicates The Win To Sushant Singh Rajput

Chhichore (2019) wins the National Film Award for Best Hindi Film. Nitish Tiwari and Sajid Nadiadwala share an emotional moment as they dedicate the award to the late movie star Sushant Singh Rajput

The movie Chhichhore, released in 2019, won the National Award for Best Hindi Film at the 67th National Film Awards. The National Film Awards were conducted in New Delhi. The awards, though held in 2021, awarded the best performances of the year 2019. Vice President Mr M Venkaiah Naidu presented the awards. Many accomplished artists of the Indian Film industry, like Kangana Ranaut, Manoj Bajpayee, Dhanush, Rajnikanth, were in attendance. Kangana showed up in a gleaming traditional attire to receive her fourth National Award for Best Actress for her films Manikarnika (2019) and Panga (2020). Rajnikanth won the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke award. The movie Chhichhore, starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Thakur, Naveen Polishetty and many more, won the award for the Best Hindi Film.

The director, Nitish Tiwari, got emotional while receiving the award. He acknowledged Sushant Singh Rajput’s contribution to the film by saying he was an integral part of it. The producer, Sajid Nadiadwala, dedicated the award to Sushant. Nitish Tiwari further added that Sushant has made him proud and continues to do so every day. It was a touching moment to witness.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s has starred in several successful movies like M.S. Dhoni (2016), Kedarnath (2018), Kai Po Che (2013), to name a few. His career in the entertainment industry began with the daily soap Pavitra Rishta in which he starred from 2009-2011. Chhichhore marks the second last film of his career before his sad demise in 2020. His last film, Dil Bechara (2020), was released posthumously on an digital platform. Sushant died by suicide on June 14, 2020 at his home in Mumbai. The whole nation grieved at this grave occurrence.

Nitish Tiwari is a film director, screenwriter and lyricist. His directorial debut was Chillar Party (2011); he won two National Awards for the same. Chillar Party won the National Awards for Best Children’s Film and for Best Screenplay.
Chhichhore marks Nitesh Tiwari’s third National Award Nomination and win.
