US Covid-19 Cases: 97,000 Children Test Positive In Two Weeks

Recently, a study on COVID-19 and its impact on children was conducted in the United States. It revealed that more than 97,000 children in the country have now tested positive for coronavirus. There is a 40 per cent surge in COVID-19 cases among kids and so far 3,38,982 have been infected. According to news reports, six states in the US have over 15,000 COVID-19 child cases. Even after seeing the spike in cases among the young ones, the Trump administration is determined to reopen schools across the country.
President Donald Trump claims that children are ‘virtually immune’ to the novel Coronavirus and the virus has little or no impact on them. The study also revealed that kids in the US account for 0.6-3.7 per cent of hospitalisations. The hospitalisation rate is higher among black and Hispanic children. Data also showed that the mortality rate among children currently stands at 0.8 per cent.
