Bengaluru Jan 27 PTI Recoveries outnumbered fresh cases which dipped to 38083 in Karnataka on Thursday taking the tally to 3692496 The death toll climbed to 38754 with 49 more deaths recorded The state had yesterday reported 48905 new infections There were 67236 discharges taking the total number of recoveries to 3325001 a bulletin said Of the new cases 17717 were from Bengaluru Urban that saw 43997 people being discharged and 12 virus-related deaths The total number of active cases across the state is now at 328711 While the positivity rate for the day stood at 2044 per cent the case fatality rate CFR was 012 per cent Of the 49 deaths 12 are from Bengaluru Urban Ballari and Mysuru 5 Dakshina Kannada and Hassan 4 Mandya Raichur Thumakuru Udupi and Uttara Kannada 2 followed by others Apart from Bengaluru Urban Mysuru recorded the second highest with 2587 Mandya 1802Tumakuru 1584 Hassan 1452 and Dharwad 1155 Bengaluru Urban district now has a total of 1666475 cases Mysuru 214013 and Tumakuru 149807 According to the bulletin Bengaluru Urban tops the list among discharges with 1460075 followed by Mysuru 197633 and Tumakuru 134876 Cumulatively a total of 61254454 samples have been tested of which 186313 were on Thursday alone PTI KSU BN BN

New Delhi Jan 27 PTI Assets worth Rs 4325 crore of a Hyderabad-based firm have been attached under the anti-money laundering law in connection with an alleged bank loan fraud case the Enforcement Directorate ED said on ThursdayA provisional order under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act PMLA has been issued by the agency attaching 15 land properties located in Telangana in the case against Sheetal Refineries Ltd and its promoter and managing director Jitender Kumar AgarwalThe ED case of money laundering was filed on the basis of an FIR registered by the CBI in Bengaluru against the accused for causing a total loss of Rs 87 crore to the State Bank of Hyderabad now SBI and the Punjab National Bank PNB Probe found the ED said in a statement that the accused promoters availed credit facilities from SBH and PNB Hyderabad by submitting fabricated financial statements invoices etcThey got letters of credit LCs issued from lending banks in the name of related shell entities as if material is being purchasedLCs were discounted by the related entities and the money so received was routed back to the promoters of Sheetal Refinery it saidThe company defaulted in payment of LCs on due date and the devolvement of LCs caused loss to the banks it allegedIn total the ED said the company owes Rs 146 crore to the banks The diverted loan proceeds which are nothing but proceeds of crime were utilised for purchase of properties and to foreclose older loans and were not used for the stated purposes it saidThe agency earlier too had attached assets in this case and with the latest order of attachment of properties worth a purchase value of Rs 4325 crore the total now stands at Rs 5278 crore PTI NES ZMN
