“Amazing! Liquor bottles recovered inside Bihar assembly premises. Winter session is going on now. Liquor of different brands is available only at a distance of a few steps from the Chief Minister’s chamber. Amidst tight security, liquor is being available in the assembly in the current session itself, just imagine the rest of Bihar! Embarrassing!” Tejashwi Yadav said in a series of tweets.

Terming the liquor ban a mere “eyewash”, Tejashwi Yadav said, “Nitish Kumar’s police are just arresting liquor consumers while the liquor mafias who are the real culprits are roaming scot-free. Only poor villagers are either dying or getting arrested.”

Reacting to the development, Nitish Kumar said in the state Assembly that an investigation would be conducted. “I will tell Chief Secretary and DGP to get an inquiry done. It is not an ordinary thing if the bottles came here. The one who is doing this should not be spared. Strict action should be taken,” ANI quoted Nitish Kumar as saying.

“I asked him (Dy CM), he said that bottles of liquor were found somewhere on this campus. This is extremely bad. How can this be tolerated?” Kumar said.

The development comes a day after Nitish Kumar and Cabinet members took a renewed pledge in favour of total prohibition of liquor in the state.

Nitish Kumar’s flagship prohibition comes under severe scrutiny in the past weeks and months, particularly after more than 60 people died due to spurious liquor.
